Roona Begum recovering after hydrocephalus surgery

Tripura, India: 29 august 2013: The image may be hard to look at but 18 month old Roona Begum’s story of survival is amazing. When she was born in a rural village in North-eastern india, Roona was identified with an extreme form of hydrocephalus. It was an illness affecting cerebral fluid to build up in the brain. The doctors had given Roona few months to live. Everyday her head started growing bigger, she stopped wanting to eat and she would lie in bed. It has become very hard for us to carry her and take her anywhere, said Roona’s father Abdul Rehman.
